Hot shooting night proving elusive for Pargo

Anyone who has followed Jannero Pargo's career since he first joined the Bulls in 2004 knows the drill by now:

Give Pargo some shots and at some point he will get ridiculously hot.

The most famous example probably was the time he came off the bench to drain 3 straight 3-pointers and help the Bulls erase a 10-point deficit in less than 40 seconds during the playoffs against Washington in 2005.

The fuse is still burning this season. After getting buried on the bench for a while, Pargo has seen action in 12 straight contests.

But the red-hot shooting night has been elusive. He hasn't scored double-figure points while shooting better than 50 percent in a single game since Nov. 17 at Sacramento.

"I was hoping (Saturday against Dallas) would be the night," Pargo said. "I'm looking forward to having a big game and just having the team win.

"All I can ask for is an opportunity, and I've been getting that. I can't complain at all. Even two five-minute (stretches), I'm happy with that. As long as there's an opportunity to help."

Pargo, 30, doesn't appear to be losing his shooting stroke. The Chicago native knocks down about 90 percent of his 3-point attempts when he shoots around after practice.

"It's different in the game," he said. "You have to be in game shape. You're out there running up and down the court. Hopefully I can get it going."

Jazz play rally song: The Bulls should be careful if they open a lead against Utah on Tuesday night at the United Center. The Jazz has recorded 7 victories when trailing by at least 13 points.

Last Thursday Utah trailed by 11 at Phoenix with 7:43 remaining but rallied to win. That same night the Bulls opened a 17-point advantage against Memphis and lost.

Wesley Matthews, an undrafted rookie from Marquette, has been starting at two guard since Utah traded Ronnie Brewer to Memphis. His father, Wes, logged 78 games for the Bulls in the 1984-85 season.

Bull horns: Joakim Noah watched the end of Monday's practice from the sideline with both feet bathing in a bucket of ice. The injured center later dried off his feet, laced up some sneakers and shot free throws. - Comcast SportsNet will make six Bulls games available for live streaming on the Internet, beginning March 19.
