Fox Valley district approves Aurora park plan
The 18-acre New Haven Community Park on Aurora's near-west side is in line for roughly $2 million in improvements to turn it into a recreation hub in a highly developed residential area.
Fox Valley Park District trustees Monday approved a $2.08 million bid from R.C. Wegman Construction Co. of Aurora to tackle the project along New Haven Avenue just west of Highland Avenue.
The property was purchased as part of the district's 2008 Open Space, Park and Recreation Investment Plan.
When complete, it will include two lighted ball fields, multiuse soccer-style fields, a playground and a half-mile asphalt path.
Work is expected to begin in April and end in 2011.
