Algonquin man killed in New Mexico crash
GALLUP, N.M. -- New Mexico authorities say an Algonquin man has been killed in a rollover accident in Gallup.
State police identify the victim as 65-year-old James Schwieger. They say he was a passenger in a car driven by his wife, who apparently overcorrected after passing another car and their vehicle overturned Sunday afternoon on Interstate 40.
Authorities say Schwieger was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car and thrown in the path of the rolling vehicle.
They say 65-year-old Rose Marry Schwieger was transported to a Gallup hospital where she was treated and released. Police say the cause of the rollover is being investigated but alcohol has been ruled out.
