No injuries in Naperville house fire

A Naperville family and their dog escaped unharmed early Monday morning when an accidental fire struck their house at 88 Bunting Lane, authorities said.

Smoke detectors at the house alerted the family to the fire that began in the basement - apparently after a unit malfunctioned that is used to charge model toy batteries.

The two adults and two children living at the house - along with their dog - all fled as smoke began to fill the upper floors, authorities said.

Firefighters were called at 4:54 a.m. and brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of their arrival. Salvage and overhaul work continued for another hour.

No damage estimates are available, but authorities said the family of four has made their own arrangements for temporary housing.
