Rape charges dropped against Wheeling man

Cook County prosecutors dropped sexual assault and unlawful restraint charges against a 19-year-old Wheeling man after the complaining witness acknowledged under oath that she gave two different versions of the incident to authorities.

The 19-year-old woman testified that she signed a criminal complaint last month against Jesus Zavala-Mora, of the 400 block of Pheasant Run Drive, whom she described as an ex-boyfriend. During a hearing Thursday, the woman testified she told prosecutors a story different from the one she told police.

She testified that she did not want to proceed with the case and said no one had pressured her for that testimony.
