Galesburg police officer facing felony charges

GALESBURG -- A lieutenant with the Galesburg Police Department is facing felony charges in a warrant obtained from the Knox County State's Attorney's Office.

City officials in Galesburg say the arrest warrant was issued Friday for Anthony Riley, charging him with theft over $300 and official misconduct. Riley turned himself in and was released from the Knox County Jail on $20,000 bond.

Officials say the police department had been investigating Riley, who resigned Thursday, but they have so far not released any details of the investigation.

The Knox County State's Attorney's Office didn't know Friday afternoon when Riley would make his first court appearance, or whether he had an attorney.
