'March Madness' brings hope to local families in crisis
House of Hope Resale, downtown Barrington, will host its annual 'March Madness' event through Saturday, March 6, to benefit Northwest suburban families in crisis.
"We call it 'Madness' because absolutely everything in our store is 50% off to clear the decks and get ready for new Spring and Summer arrivals," explained Caryn Habley, store manager. "All furniture, collectibles, vintage treasures, house wares, clothing, toys, books - everything goes for half price."
All sale proceeds support Project Hope, a nonprofit organization established in 1986 to lend emergency assistance to area families in crisis.
"This fundraiser will provide us with an extra boost of resources to meet a growing number of requests for assistance in these tough economic times," said Sr. Lorraine Menheer, founding director of Project Hope. Calls to Project Hope have increased 35% over last year. "Our goal is to provide as many people as possible with timely, short-term support that will enable them to become self-sufficient again."
"We've recently expanded our space to deliver even more bargains," noted Habley. "We have five huge rooms of new and gently used merchandise to clear. It is bargain hunting at its absolute best: great deals, plus guilt-free shopping to benefit local families."
March Madness runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. through Saturday, March 6, with a $3-per-bag sale on clothing and accessories, shoes, toys, books and linens on Saturday. New arrivals for spring and summer premiere Wednesday, March 10, and the annual Bridal Faire follows on Saturday, March 13, featuring designer bridal gowns from area salons for just $50.
House of Hope Resale is located at 200 N. Hough Street, just north of Main Street in downtown Barrington. Delivery service is available for a nominal fee. For information, call (847) 756-4673.
