Body in river was that of college student
Students at Columbia College in Chicago are mourning the death of a fellow student whose body was pulled from the Calumet River on the city's far South Side earlier this week.
Authorities said Thursday they had still not determined the cause of death for 20-year-old Jay Polhill of Lena, Ill. His body was pulled from the river Tuesday morning, but was not identified for more than 24 hours.
Polhill, who was a photography student at Columbia, was last seen Saturday night when he told friends he was on his way to a party on the city's North Side. Fellow student combed North Side neighborhoods and passed out flyers for several days in their search for Polhill before learning Wednesday night that the body in the river had been identified as his.
