Naperville man charged with growing pot in bedroom

A Naperville man who police say was growing cannabis in his bedroom is facing felony drug charges.

David R. Huskey, 42, of 616 Yosemite Ave., Apt. 105, has been charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, production of cannabis plants and endangering the life and health of a child, according to Naperville police.

Police said they found a timed lighting and watering system as well as a carbon-based air filtration system in the bedroom of Huskey's apartment. They also discovered two pounds of cannabis and several live plants.

Sgt. John McAnally said police began investigating in early February after receiving a tip from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service that Husky was having "materials associated with a grow operation" shipped to him.

In addition to the drug charges, Husky was charged with child endangerment because his child was living in the apartment where the cannabis was being grown, McAnally said.

Husky turned himself in to police on Feb. 25 and subsequently posted 10 percent of his $25,000 bond. He is due in court March 22 in DuPage County.
