Lawyers volunteer to offer foreclosure help

Lawyers from the Lake County Bar Association will be offering free help to people who are on the brink of foreclosure on Saturday, March 6, in Grayslake.

The lawyers, who are specially trained and volunteering their assistance, will be at the University Center on the College of Lake County campus in Grayslake from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also participating in the event will be representatives of Neighborhood Housing Services, Chicago Community Trust and Attorneys Title Guaranty.

Qualified residents will have the opportunity to meet with counselors and other professionals to review documents and apply for President Obama's loan modification program.

There is no charge to anyone who participates. For more information, call the association at (847) 244-3143.

New judge named:Christopher Morozin of Libertyville has been appointed an associate judge for the 19th Judicial Circuit.Morozin, who was elected last week by vote of the circuit judges, has been an attorney since graduating from DePaul University Law School in 1990.The Libertyville High School graduate was a partner in the Fox Lake firm of Soffietti, Johnson, Teegan, Phillips, Morozin Arguetta, where he specialized in the general practice of law.Morozin also served as a local prosecutor for Fox Lake and Lindenhurst.Morozin was sworn in as a judge on March 1.Employee of the year:Keith Cooprider, a 26-year probation officer in Lake County, has been named the 19th Judicial Circuit's employee of the year.Chief Judge James Booras said Cooprider, a unit coordinator in the Adult Pretrial Services division, was honored for his commitment to the public and the court system and his competency and efficiency.An article entitled "Pretrial Risk Assessment and Case Classification" written by Cooprider was published in the June 2009 issue of Federal Probation magazine.
