Fire picks goalkeeper coach

Aron Hyde has been hired as the Fire's new goalkeeper coach, team officials announced Monday.

Hyde joins the staff of head coach Carlos de los Cobos after most recently serving as University of Washington's men's assistant coach and for the Evergreen Soccer Club as the goalkeeping director.

Hyde, a Birmingham, England product, has several years of coaching experience and previously coached Seattle University's men's and women's soccer teams for three years. He has also been involved with Region IV Olympic Development Program as well as the Washington State Olympic Development Program.

During his college soccer career, Hyde, 27, played for Judson College as a goalkeeper. While attending Judson, he also trained with the Chicago Fire first team and worked for the club's youth academy in a coaching capacity.

As a goalkeeper, Hyde spent time with the development program English Premier League club Fulham FC as well as Walsall FC, Millwall FC, and Wycombe Wanderers.
