Please don't make me walk in street

It's bad enough that this winter has given us more snow than usual, and that the snow has been sticking around longer. But too many of our neighbors don't have enough consideration for the rest of us.

Common courtesy - not to mention some local ordinances - requires that you shovel the snow off the sidewalk in front of your house so that people can safely walk.

I do a lot of walking in our neighborhood, in large part because I have a dog that I walk (and yes, I pick up after her). Several days after every snowfall, there are so many homes that have not bothered to shovel in front. And those of you who live on a corner - you also need to shovel the sidewalk around the side of your home.

Then to make matters worse, there are the people who have a plow service for their driveway that then piles the snow along the side of the driveway, completely blocking the sidewalk so that you'd have to climb a near mountain.

Do you not realize that you are forcing people to chose between climbing through your snow or walking out in the street? I realize that not everyone is healthy enough to safely shovel. Then take responsibility for your property and make sure that whoever you pay to shovel the driveway also shovels the sidewalk.
