'Checkpoint' gives one side of story

"Checkpoint of Misery" in the Feb. 21 Daily Herald only reports on one side of the "conflict," the Palestinian point of view. To be fair, the Israeli side should also be considered.

I returned from a visit to Israel over Thanksgiving and was able to observe both participants of the "conflict" interacting with each other. The author would do well to have reported on what it is like for a non-Palestinian to visit Bethlehem, a city revered by many faiths for the birth of Jesus Christ.

I was on a tour bus from an Israeli tour bus company that sought to enter that city. We were halted at a checkpoint in the bus until a guard was willing to check us out; at least 20 minutes. An armed Palestinian soldier with drawn rifle walked through the bus checking us all out before we were given permission to enter the city. It was a very uncomfortable experience.

If one is going to give so much room to such a story, at least present both sides.
