'On & Off the Course'

Learn about the beginnings of golf in the Midwest with a focus on golf in the Chicago area at the "On & Off the Course - Golf in Chicago" program at the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society Museum. Alberta Adamson, president and CEO of the Center for History in Wheaton, presents a lecture, which looks at individuals, golf clubs and courses, tournaments and golf equipment makers in the Chicago area. Visitors can also see artifacts from the historical society's "Hole in One" golf exhibit.

Canine competitors

The International Kennel Club of Chicago hosts the 2010 International Cluster of Dog Shows, drawing top dogs from across the United States and Canada who compete for prizes and the title of Best in Show. Visitors can observe more than 10,000 purebred dogs from 161 breeds, demonstrating skills in a variety of competitions.

Happy 200th Chopin!

Northwestern University student pianists celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer Frederic Chopin at "Chopin Fest: Happy 200th Birthday, Chopin!" The student artists will present a marathon recital featuring Chopin's major works. During intermissions, guests can enjoy complimentary Polish delicacies including sausages, pierogies and birthday cake.

Jones sings show tunes

Academy Award-winning actress and singer Shirley Jones is joined by the 32-piece Hollywood Concert Orchestra to perform famous tunes from Broadway musicals and films in "A Night at the Oscars."
