Scouting report: Northwestern at Penn State

Northwestern (18-10, 7-9) at Penn St. (10-17, 2-13)

When: 11 a.m. at Jordan Center

TV: BTN

Radio: WGN 720-AM

The skinny: Just 11 days after surrendering Penn State's first Big Ten win of the season on their home floor, the Wildcats pursue a split of the season series. NU hasn't beaten Penn State since junior point guard Talor Battle showed up on the scene, though Battle was more a decoy than a primary force in the Nittany Lions' 81-70 win Feb. 17. Penn State ripped every defense Northwestern tried last time, but the Wildcats hope their rejuvenated matchup zone can do a better job of slowing down Chris Babb and David Jackson. They each scored 20 points the first time around. Northwestern needs the win to stay even with Minnesota in the race for the Big Ten tournament's No. 6 seed. The Wildcats have only been higher than No. 8 once since the tournament began in 1998 - and that was their No. 6 seed in 2004.
