Report: Lysacek to skip world championships
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek reportedly will not defend his title at next month's world championships.
Lysacek, who won the men's gold at the Vancouver Olympics a week ago, tells Icenetwork.com, that he will skip worlds in Turin, Italy. But he adds, "I still want to continue to compete."
His publicist, Lynn Plage, says Lysacek has made no official announcement about worlds. Lysacek was attending the gold medal women's hockey game Thursday and could not be reached for comment.
Lysacek is the first U.S. man to win gold in Olympic figure skating since Brian Boitano in 1988.
