Suicide shuts down lanes of I-290

A 37-year-old Lombard man was killed Thursday afternoon when he walked into traffic on westbound I-290 near Irving Park Road.
Illinois State Police said the man parked his vehicle on the side of the road and deliberately walked into the path of a semitrailer truck at 12:55 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three westbound lanes were closed for two hours while the incident was investigated.
