Electrolux moving HQ from Illinois to North Carolina

BLOOMINGTON -- Electrolux says it plans to move the headquarters of its Home Care Products division from Bloomington to Charlotte, N.C.

Electrolux has about 200 employees in Bloomington, which is the North American headquarters for the Electrolux vacuum cleaner business.

The company says the move is part of efforts to consolidate its U.S. corporate offices and support operations in Charlotte. The first offices will begin moving this summer, but Electrolux spokesman Tony Evans didn't have any details about the Bloomington move.

Evans says the company will determine later what jobs will be available in North Carolina and which employees will be offered positions.

In 2000, the company closed its manufacturing plant in Normal, costing 360 workers their jobs. Electrolux now makes vacuum cleaners in Juarez, Mexico.
