Elgin Knights of Columbus donate to Little Angels
The local council of the Knights of Columbus presented a donation check to Little Angels as part of the proceeds raised by the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll fund drive last September. Grand Knight Greg Begel and Sir Knight Larry Smith presented a check to Laura Schreiner, assistant director of nursing at Little Angels.
Schreiner accepted the donation in front of about 30 members of the local Knights of Columbus Council 654 who gathered Feb. 9 at the Knights of Columbus Hall for the presentation.
Little Angels is a 57-bed skilled care facility for children and young adults with severe disabilities and complex medical needs. Little Angels was founded in 1958 by Pat and Bob Wasmond and continues operation today under the ownership of the Wasmond family.
The Larkin Center of Elgin, Clare Woods Academy and the Elgin Rehabilitation Center were among the other agencies that benefited from charitable work of the local Knights of Columbus council. For information about these donations, and the work of the Elgin Knights of Columbus, visit kofc654.org.
