Cronin 'honored' by Rove appearance?

Two men, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove, are most responsible for the disastrous failure of the Bush43 presidency that has caused so much suffering in America and around the world. Cheney haunts us on Sunday talk shows in an attempt to rewrite history and make us forget the tragedies he caused.

Rove, who taught Republicans to use campaign lies and deception in our government, even politicizing our sacrosanct Department of Justice and federal attorney offices, is ever-present on Faux News. Rove led the distortion of facts about Iraq leading to an unnecessary war diverting needed attention on the war in Afghanistan. These two multi-trillion dollar wars devastated our economy and keep us from recovering.

Rove was booted out as Bush's adviser for his role in the Valerie Plame incident. If Republican Party leadership had any ethics left, it would have shunned Cheney and Rove, never allowing the likes of them to stink up our government again.

Then I read in the Daily Herald that Dan Cronin, who is the Republican candidate to run DuPage County after Robert Schillerstrom, is "honored" and "privileged" to have Karl Rove be the guest speaker at the county Republicans' 49th anniversary dinner on March 19.

That decision shows me Cronin only wants to win at any cost and continue the smelly pay-to-play politics in our county that has gone on for over 30 years. For state Senator Cronin to take pride in bringing in a man like Karl Rove says a lot. It says he isn't fit to lead this county. We need a new brand of leadership and must say goodbye to old style politics that wants to rule instead of govern.
