'Avatar' scenario in Kane County

Who would think that sci-fi and a movie about a planet light years away would play out so close to home in Kane County?

Many have probably seen the movie "Avatar" and know that the general plot is about a big corporation decimating a distant world solely for profitable gain by extracting Unobtanium.

Here in Kane County, it has been stated that the board is considering mining gravel from the recent land acquired for the Brunner Family Forest Preserve. If the gravel is mined, then what precedent does this set? Should the topsoil be removed and the trees cut for sale? It is alarming to see government acting like private industry.

When you see "Avatar" do you cheer for RDA, the big corporation, or against them? Please let the Kane County Board know that we do not need to see "Avatar" in our own backyard.
