Power restored on Elgin's east side

The power was fully restored to the 680 ComEd customers in Elgin who had been without power since noon, authorities said.

ComEd blames the blackout on an equipment failure from the company's end - it was not known this afternoon where the failure originated.

Customers bounded between the following streets were affected: Bode Road, Route 20, Willard Street and Grove Avenue.

At 1:30 p.m., about half of the customers had their power back, said ComEd Spokesman Bennie Currie. By 2:05 p.m., everyone was live again.
