Work together on health care reform
Mark Twain's famous quotation, "Figures don't lie, but liars figure," has never had greater meaning than when it is applied to today's issues. Take health care for example.
The mainstream media and some letters to the editor suggest that Republicans are the reason for no health care reform. Certainly, Republicans and many other concerned citizens have expressed concerns about the current legislation and do not support it in its present form. However, until the recent loss of the Senate seat from Massachusetts, the Democrats had majorities in both the House and Senate to pass any health care legislation they wanted.
The facts appear to be that some members of the Democratic Party also didn't like some of the components of the current legislation and lack of their support is what doomed the passage of this bill. Everyone needs to be more honest in these discussions. It's OK to disagree, but it's time our politicians learn to work together to resolve this and any other issues. If they don't, we the people need to make changes in our elected officials.
