Chicago Hts. man killed on highway

LYNWOOD -- Authorities say a 39-year-old suburban Chicago man was killed and another man injured after a vehicle struck them on Illinois Route 394.

The Cook County medical examiner's office says Luis Valdivia-Segoviano was standing outside his vehicle early Sunday morning near Lynwood.

Illinois State Police say the Chicago Heights man's vehicle had broken down and he was talking with a passer-by who had stopped to help.

Police say both were struck by a sport utility vehicle. The driver of that vehicle is in police custody.

The man who stopped to help was taken in critical condition to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Valdivia-Segoviano and his wife Eva Senteno were driving home after a night of dancing at their favorite Mexican restaurant.
