USD Chamber Singers to perform at Lake Zurich High

The University of South Dakota's Chamber Singers, led by conductor Dr. David Holdhusen will perform 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 8, in the Performing Arts Center at Lake Zurich High School, 300 Church St. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will take the audience on a musical and emotional journey that unfolds in ""Life, Love, Loss and Light." The four sections of the program reflect the meaning and emotion of each term, which are integral elements of the human experience.

The Chamber Singers is the premiere vocal ensemble at The University of South Dakota. It is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students selected through audition from the entire student body. Its repertoire, which is primarily a cappella, includes music from the Renaissance to the present in a wide variety of styles.

David Holdhusen served as the choir director at Lake Zurich High School from 1998-2004, after which time, he left to earn his Ph.D. in music education from Florida State University. Upon graduation, he took the position of director of choral activities with the University of South Dakota.
