Purim celebration at Congregation Beth Am

Congregation Beth Am in Buffalo Grove and Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove are inviting the public to celebrate the festive holiday of Purim this weekend. Beth Am is hold a carnival from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28.

It will include food, events, and games for all ages. It's followed by Esther Enchanted at 2:30 p.m., cowritten by Wheeling resident Frank Levin and Buffalo Grove resident David Weinberg. The free musical re-enactment of the story of Esther it sung to Disney melodies.

For information, contact Cantor Diane Yomtov at (847) 459-1677. Beth Judea's celebration begins at 6:15 p.m. and includes an evening of fun-filled events for a nominal charge. The Jewish holiday of Purim marks the Jewish victory over the Persians, who, led by Haman, sought to destroy the Jewish population in their empire.
