No injuries reported in minor bus crash near St. Charles
Police and school officials say a bus crash Thursday afternoon involving St. Charles North High School students was merely a fender-bender with no injuries.
The accident occurred as the bus was taking high school students home after school at about 2:40 p.m. A car rear-ended the bus near the intersection of Crane Road and Ware Woods Drive in unincorporated St. Charles Township, police said. The investigation caused a 40-minute delay in transporting the students while Kane County Sheriff's officers investigated the cause of the collision. Paramedics came to the scene in an ambulance as a precautionary measure.
Police did not yet know what caused the crash.
"Luckily, it doesn't look like a bad one," said Lt. Pat Gengler, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.
St. Charles Unit District 303 Spokesman Jim Blaney said the district's transportation director went to the accident scene to check on the children and bus driver when the report of the collision came in. Blaney said all of the children were home or at their destinations as of about 4:30 p.m.
