Lake Zurich man faces perjury charge

During his December trial on charges of drunken driving, authorities say Bradley Baldino swore under oath that he had never been arrested on charges of DUI or any alcohol-related charges.

Court records indicate otherwise, said a Cook County Sheriff's Department spokesman, following Baldino's bond hearing on felony perjury charges held Thursday in a Rolling Meadows courtroom.

A judge set bail at $10,000 for the Lake Zurich man, said Steve Patterson of the Cook County Sheriff's Department. Baldino was released after a family member posted the required 10 percent, Patterson said.

Sheriff's police arrested Baldino, 38, Wednesday at the Scoreboard Bar and Grill in Lake Zurich, following an investigation they initiated after receiving a complaint from the Cook County state's attorney, Patterson said.

Baldino, of the 600 block of Ivy Court, had been charged with DUI and reckless driving following a May 2009 accident in South Barrington, Patterson said. He was convicted of reckless driving in December and sentenced to one year of conditional discharge and a $1,000 fine, Patterson said.

Sheriff's officers discovered Baldino had a 2008 DUI conviction from Lake County and a 2006 DUI conviction from California, he said.

Baldino denied the California arrest, but the name, address, photo and fingerprints from that incident matched those on file in Illinois, Patterson said.
