FBI offers reward in search for bank robbery suspects

The FBI on Thursday announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the capture of the men suspected in three recent Lake County bank robberies.

The heists occurred Nov. 12 at the America United Bank in Gurnee, Dec. 3 at the Associated Bank in Lindenhurst and Dec. 23 at the Bridgeview Bank in Vernon Hills.

Four men are believed to have committed the heists. In all three robberies, the thieves wore black clothes and ski masks that concealed their identities.

No serious injuries were reported in any of the robberies. Several bank employees have been punched, pushed or dragged during the heists.

The robbers were described by authorities as:

• A Hispanic or light-skinned black man who was about 5 feet 11 inches tall, had a heavy build and a deep voice. He seemed to be the leader, officials said.

•A thin black man between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches tall.

• A black man who was about 6 feet tall and had a medium or heavy build.

•A thin Hispanic man who was about 5 feet 6 inches tall.

During the Vernon Hills robbery, three of the thieves were seen entering an older-model Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe being driven by an accomplice.

The robberies are being investigated by the FBI, the Lake County sheriff's office, Lindenhurst police and Vernon Hills police.

Anyone with information about the robberies can call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
