American Legion Post 75: The Fox River-Geneva American Legion Post 75 will offer a "Friday Fish Fry" every week through April 2. A variety of seafood and chicken entrees with a wide selection of side dishes will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. at a cost of $7.50-$9 at the Legion Hall, 22 S. Second St., Geneva. Audubon Society: The Kane County Chapter of Illinois Audubon Society invites you to the "Gull Frolic" on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Winthrop Harbor Yacht Club. The Illinois Ornithological Society, celebrating its ninth year, is sponsoring this event which includes food (including "Sea Gull Stew"), booths and a view of lots and lots of gulls, ducks, and other water fowl in the harbor. On Saturday, Feb. 27, take a bird walk at 8 a.m. at Les Arends Forest Preserve, Batavia. St. Charles Singles: Singles age 40 and older of all communities are invited to social at breakfast at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Randall Pancake House, McDonald and Randall roads, South Elgin. North Aurora Mothers Club: The North Aurora Mothers Club will host its annual fundraiser - The North Aurora Winter Gala - from 6 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Fox Valley Country Club in North Aurora. It will include hors d'oeuvres, dinner buffet, open bar, raffles and silent auction, with entertainment provided by Music by Design and a special performance by Moves Dance Studio. In addition, there will be a pre-raffle before the gala; tickets are being sold now. The first prize is $1,000; tickets are $10 each and the winner does not need to be present at the gala. Pottawatomie Garden Club: The Pottawatomie Garden Club will meet at noon Monday, Feb. 22, in the St. Charles Public Library meeting room, 1 S. Sixth Ave., St. Charles. Batavia Woodcarving Club: The Batavia Woodcarving Club will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year with a show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 in Paxton Hall at the Batavia Congregational Church, 21 S. Batavia Ave. There will be numerous carvings exhibited, demonstrations and carvings for sale. Admission and parking are free. The club meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at Bethany Lutheran Church Elder Care Center, at Wilson and Lincoln. Members skill levels vary, as does their interests. Zonta Club: On Tuesday, March 2, the Zonta Club of St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia invites the community to a panel discussion on "Breaking the Silence on Domestic Abuse" from 7 to 9 p.m. at Prairie Landing Golf Club, 2325 Longest Drive in West Chicago. Geneva Garden Club: The Geneva Garden Club will hold its next meeting at noon Tuesday, March 2 at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., Geneva. Refreshments will be served at 11:30 a.m. The topic will be "Taking Your Garden Through the Seasons." It will be the last meeting open to the public until fall. Fox Valley Divorce Support Group: The Fox Valley Divorce Support Group meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Congregational Church of Batavia, Route 31 and Wilson streets in Batavia. New members should come at 6:45 p.m. The meeting is free and open to all. The support group provides help and information to those in all stages of the divorce process and is open to people of all faiths. Besides providing information through guest speakers, the group offers fellowship and emotional support. David and Judy Janis are the group's facilitators. Their own experiences of unsought divorces have enabled them to offer help and counsel to others who are going through the pain and challenges of divorce. Geneva Rotary Club: The Rotary Club of Geneva is a service club whose members include business, professional and community leaders. It meets at 7 a.m. Tuesdays at Mill Race Inn in Geneva. For information, visit genevarotary.org. The Rotary Club has started a new fundraiser called the "Rotary Rock." They will put a rock that weighs about 30 pounds on the ice-covered pond near the Fox River at the Mill Race Inn sometime in mid-February. For $1, guess the day and time that it will fall back through the ice and you win half the pot. The "Rotary rock" is currently at the Citizen Kane restaurant, 330 W. Elburn Lions: The Elburn Lions Club hosts bingo every Friday at the clubhouse, 500 Filmore St., Elburn. The doors open at 5 p.m. Early Bird Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m., with regular games beginning at 7 p.m. Twelve regular games are offered as well as three progressive and one split the pot raffles. Food and drink are available for purchase. Proceeds go toward Campaign SightFirst II, a worldwide Lions fundraising campaign to fight preventable and reversible blindness.
