GOP can't understand average American

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele stated that $1 million is not a lot of money when he was referring to the Bush tax cuts.

Such a statement reveals the disconnect between the Republican Party and the average American. It is quite clear that we are talking about a party that is there to represent the needs of the wealthy, at the expense of everyone else.

Mr. Steele needs to spend some time in the real world of the working poor, the hardworking Americans trying to make ends meet. As a high schoolteacher, I see everyday students who are bypassing college, not because of aspiration or academic ability, but because their parents cannot afford it.

A million dollars could pay for many students to go to college. Would we be better off under Republican control in the executive and legislative branches? No!
