Lake County sheriff's deputy still in critical condition after Friday crash
A Lake County sheriff's deputy remains in critical but stable condition nearly three days after his personal car rear-ended a semitrailer on Route 41 near Hanssen Road.
Jon Cashmore, 44, of Wadsworth is in the intensive care unit at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Hospital spokeswoman Chris Vicik said Cashmore's condition hasn't changed since paramedics brought him in early Friday morning.
Chief David Godlewski, of the sheriff's office said investigators are still working to determine how and why Cashmore's 2000 Chevy Lumina slammed into the truck. The accident happened at 2:30 a.m.
It's not clear if the semi was stopped on the road or moving when the accident took place. Results of drug and alcohol tests have not been released. No tickets have been issued until the investigation is complete, Godlewski said Saturday. The truck driver, a 33-year-old Ford Heights man was not injured.
Cashmore has been a member of the sheriff's office since 1998. He is married and has one son.
