We just don't trust candidates for office

Why wasn't there a warning label on the guy? "WARNING: candidate may have nearly knifed hooker girlfriend."

We as a public are so well-educated on so many things. H1N1 contamination. Dangers of cigarettes. Why didn't somebody (ahem) do enough digging on this guy? Party leaders and academics alike claim to be scratching their heads over low voter turnout.

Maybe voters in Illinois stay home because they have a deep suspicion about anyone running for office in this state. Maybe they suspect that behind any stirring ad or patriotic slogan a crook may well be lurking, and voting for a crook only perpetuates a broken system. And weren't they right?
