Teens charged in Gurnee burglaries
Three Gurnee boys have been referred to Lake County juvenile court, each on two counts of residential burglary and one burglary count.
Gurnee police said a break-in occurred in the 4200 block of Brown Circle about 11 p.m. Tuesday, where the teenagers took cash from a woman's purse. At 9:41 p.m. that night, police were called by a resident in the 800 block of Delany Road after she heard a loud bang at her door. The same teens were found by officers at Old Grand Avenue and First Street, police said.
After cops told the boys they matched their shoes to snow prints found at the Delany Road home, the boys admitted they were there but only played a prank on the woman by knocking on the door and running away. They were released and sent on their way, police said. Police said the teens were connected to the Brown Circle burglary by matching their shoes to footprints in the snow.
Police picked up one 13-year-old boy and the 15-year-old at the older boy's home about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The other 13-year-old suspect was picked up at his home roughly three hours later. All three teens were released to their parents.
