Deerfield holds off Grayslake North

Down 12 points at halftime, Grayslake North climbed back into the game by outscoring Deerfield 20-10 in the third quarter. But the Warriors pulled away again by hitting 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to earn a 56-45 victory in nonconference girls basketball Monday.

Senior Lauren Erickson shined for Grayslake North on Senior Night. She led the way with 16 points and scored 9 points while the Knights were rallying in the third quarter. The Knights also got 15 points out of sophomore Brooke Sauer.

"Lauren really stepped up on Senior Night," said Grayslake North coach Jim Sarver, whose team dropped to 11-15 on the season. "She also had 12 rebounds. She really kept us in the game."
