Democrats must stand up for us now
I am amazed at the political situation in America today. Don't people remember the Bush/Cheney administration and their two wars and a $3 trillion deficit? Now we have a brilliant president and a Democratic government who are trying their best to correct eight years of abuse of "the system."
Some of their decisions have driven me wild, like the health care bill that has been slowly decimated from its original form, but can still be saved. How many times does the president have to state that the health care reforms will be self-financing before the so-called tea-partiers will understand the statement?
The Republican machine with their millions of dollars are bending people's minds with the help of Fox News biased idiots and Rush Limburgh who is a disgrace to the American people.
So many people watch and listen that I despair. I despair when normally rational people believe everything they hear, even when it defies logic.
Has it occurred to anybody that big business, big banks and big pharma/insurance deliberately sabotage the Democrats' efforts to cure the economy, provide jobs for working people and pass the health care bill with benefits for the public?
Remember what George Bush said to supporters at a fundraiser, "I am speaking to the haves and to the have-mores."
Anyone who watched the State of the Union speech and did not realize the Republicans will not cooperate in any way with the Democrats for the good of the country, must be out of their minds. Now the Republicans are crowing that they are going to get a substantial majority come November and, if the Democrats don't stand up to them in Congress, they will.
For heaven's sake Nancy Pelosi get a backbone.
