Police, DCFS investigate Carpentersville boy's death
Chicago police and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are investigating the death Sunday of a 19-month-old Carpentersville boy.
Hamad Moore, who lived in the 0-100 block of Oxford Drive, was pronounced dead at 4 a.m. Sunday at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, authorities said.
Before being taken to the hospital, police said, the boy had been visiting in the 900 block of North Long Avenue in Chicago.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office was not releasing his cause of death Monday, citing the ongoing police investigation.
DCFS opened an abuse investigation involving the boy Thursday. The agency had prior contact with the family in 2007 based on an unfounded accusation of neglect, said DCFS Spokesman Jimmie Whitelow.
