Days of the New to play Penny Road Pub

Days of the New, the alternative band that scored a few big hits in the late 1990s ("Touch, Peel and Stand," "Shelf in the Room"), brings its hard-driving acoustic rock to the suburbs this weekend. Singer Travis Meeks, who sounds like a cross between Axl Rose, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain, has retooled the group, which says it will have a new record soon.

Days of the New plays with Losing Scarlet, Inn Cinema and A.D.D. at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Penny Road Pub, 545 Penny Road, Barrington. $10 in advance or $13 at the door. Call (847) 428-0562.
