Bunco event to help fight heart disease
Play bunco and get educated on preventing heart disease, all in one event Feb. 25 at the Honquest Furniture for Living showroom, 1455 S. Barrington Road.
The Women's' Queen of Hearts Bunco Night is 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Co-sponsored by Northwest Community Hospital, Dr. Gilbert A. Sita will open the event with an overview of symptoms and outline methods and strategies for preventing heart disease, the leading cause of death for American women. Dr. Sita is a cardiac intervention specialist on staff at Northwest Community and is associated with Northwest Heart Specialists, Arlington Heights.
Following Dr. Sita, guests will break into teams of four to play Bunco. Prizes have been donated by Barrington area businesses.
Established Bunco groups are encouraged to come. The evening will consist of three rounds of Bunco and opportunities for guests to browse the showroom before and after the games.
"Bunco is a fun game that requires absolutely no skill," says Lisa Maher, manager of Honquest's carpet department, who organized the event in honor of February as Heart Month.
A minimum $30 cash donation or check payable to The American Heart Association is required. Credit cards are not accepted. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association. Light heart healthy refreshments and goody bags are included.
Players are also invited to enter Honquest's drawings for a Karastan 8x10 area rug and free installation of up to 25 yards of wall to wall carpeting. Only registered participants are eligible for the drawings.
Registration is required by Feb. 18 in order to play Bunco and receive a goody bag. Call Honquest Furniture for Living, (847) 382-1700, ext. 124, or sign up online at lmaher@honquest.com.
