Prospect Hts. couple victims of home invasion

Prospect Heights police are investigating a home invasion and attempted robbery by two armed men early Friday morning.

The masked men followed a couple into their garage in the 1100 block of Prairie Circle at about 2 a.m., said Commander Al Steffen.

Both men had guns and ordered the couple, in their 60s, into their house. One suspect held a gun against the man's head, and they demanded money. But when the woman ran out a side door to a neighbor's house, the armed men fled, said Steffen.

The couple was coming home after a visit to a casino. They were not big winners at the casino, but the possibility they were followed to their home is an angle the police are investigating, Steffen said.
