Two charged with plotting hit on federal officer
Frank Caira, 39, of Downers Grove, and Jack Mann, 41, of Naperville, were indicted Wednesday on charges of conspiracy to kill or attempt to kill a federal officer.
The indictment, passed up by a grand jury, alleges they plotted to kill an assistant U.S. attorney and a Drug Enforcement Administration special agent in a case related to criminal complaints filed against them last month.
The case was investigated by the Chicago FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and the U.S. Marshal's Service Threat Assessment Task Force and is being prosecuted by the U.S. attorney's office in U.S. District Court.
