No suspects in Batavia bank robbery
A downtown Batavia bank was robbed Tuesday night, and police said Wednesday no suspect is in custody.
The Chase bank branch at Main Street and Batavia Avenue (Route 31) was held up around 5:53 p.m., according to Batavia police.
The robber announced the robbery but did not display a weapon, but implied he had one, according to FBI spokesman Ross Rice. The FBI is also investigating the case.
He left on foot, heading east on Main Street.
The suspect is a white man, age 20 to 25, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch, weighing 160 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black stocking cap, a black insulated coat with a fur-fringed hood, dark pants and black gym shoes. He had a shirt pulled up over his face, Rice said.
The amount of cash taken is not known at this time, police and Rice said.
No one was injured.
