Illinois held Iowa to 3 points in the first nine minutes and the school's lowest single-game total in 26 seasons. Since that meeting, Iowa has made impressive strides. The Hawks have averaged 60.1 points in the last seven games while beating Penn State and Indiana. Matt Gatens still leads the way with 12.1 points per game, while Schaumburg HS grad Cully Payne is at 8.2 points, 3.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds per night. Illinois coach Bruce Weber is still looking for more from junior power forward Mike Davis, who came off the bench the last two games and who is averaging 6.9 points and 6.4 rebounds over the last eight games.
