Sutter wins DuPage circuit bench
DuPage Associate Judge Ron Sutter won the Republican primary Tuesday in a battle against another associate colleague for a 6-year term on DuPage County's circuit bench.
With all of the votes unofficially tallied, Sutter had nearly 55 percent of the vote over Judge Brian McKillip.
Sutter, 54, of Wheaton, has practiced law for nearly 30 years. He served as an assistant DuPage County state's attorney in the 1980s, prosecuting everything from traffic tickets to murder cases. He later left for private civil practice. He became a judge in 2003.
McKillip, 63, of Warrenville, is a 37-year attorney who worked in private practice, and also was Glen Ellyn's prosecutor for nearly 15 years until 1999 when he became a judge. Both were "highly recommended" and have high bar ratings in an Illinois State Bar poll.
