Auger wins Kane board Dist. 23 GOP race
Maggie Auger has won the Republican nomination for Kane County Board District 23.
With all 13 precincts counted, the unofficial count shows Auger, of Algonquin, received 58 percent of votes.
District 23 includes the Kane County portion of Algonquin, and parts of Carpentersville, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow and Dundee Township.
Auger, 53, is a practicing attorney and member of Algonquin's planning and zoning and economic development commissions, in a leadership role for the last 10 years.
Donald Moore, 47, a Carpentersville financial adviser, has served as a member of the Carpentersville audit and finance commission from 2005-2006. He is married to former Carpentersville trustee Nancy Moore, is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Huntley and the Carpentersville American Legion Post.
Throughout the campaign, the candidates held nearly identical stances on county pay and benefits, and treatment of unionized workers. Both Moore and Auger listed improving the county's transportation and sound fiscal management as priorities if elected.
Auger said she is looking forward to uniting with other Republicans to present a strong party ticket in the fall.
She will face Democrat Linda Nuneman in November for the seat currently held by John Mayer, a West Dundee Republican who chose not to seek re-election.
