Prus, BG in zone at Conference Challenge Classic

Buffalo Grove junior Nick Prus immediately got into a shooting zone as soon as he saw Lindblom in one defensively Sunday evening.

Prus scored all 13 of his team-high points in the first quarter and hit three 3-pointers as BG (12-9) cruised to a 64-41 boys basketball victory over Lindblom in the Conference Challenge Classic at Loyola University's Gentile Center in Chicago.

"We really shot the ball well and played at a pretty high level," BG coach Ryan O'Connor said after a three-game losing streak ended.

BG led 19-5 after a quarter and 35-18 at halftime. Mike Cornely added 11 points and 6-foot-5 sophomore Sam Wacker scored 10 points and made a big rebounding impact.

"Wacker is playing really good minutes for us," O'Connor said. "He played well at Zion (65-59 loss Saturday) and he's providing some much-needed size for us."

In other games at Loyola, Lake Park beat Glenbrook South 44-28, Niles West beat Gordon Tech 65-46 and Lincoln Park beat Maine East 65-47.
