Gurnee credit union robbed at gunpoint
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and other agencies are seeking at least one man who robbed a Gurnee credit union Friday night and shot at police officers.
Gurnee police received an alarm from Community Trust Credit Union, 1330 N. Skokie Highway (U.S. Route 41) just before 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Using a handgun with a laser sight on it, a man fired several shots at arriving officers, Gurnee police said. No one was injured.
A suspect, described as about 6-foot-2 inches tall wearing a black stocking cap with a face mask, escaped on foot to the northwest toward the railroad tracks and the Des Plaines River trail.
Gurnee police would not reveal how many people were involved or whether they succeeded in obtaining any money.
