Link the problem, not the solution

Sunday's Daily Herald headline of "Whose idea was video gambling?" asks a good question, as I believe any responsible candidate running for office is now trying to distance themselves from any trickery that extracts money from the already financially strapped voter to continue the farce that is Illinois State Government.

One needs to look no further than our own State Sen. Terry Link, chairman of the gaming committee, recipient of campaign donations from the gaming industry, and sponsor of bills that not only add more licenses for casinos in Illinois, but also allows for slot machines at race tracks. Add to this his support for red light cameras, and it's easy to see Sen. Link's plan to pull our state out of this recession, regardless of what he says on his candidate questionnaires. How unfortunate that the Daily Herald has endorsed this candidate for Lt. Governor. The last thing we need is more from the people that got us into this mess.
