Official drops probe into Grafton Township complaint

The McHenry County State's Attorney's Office will not pursue an Open Meetings Act complaint brought against the Grafton Township trustees.

The complaint concerns a Nov. 12 meeting the trustees boycotted because they say Township Supervisor Linda Moore refused to place certain items on the agenda.

In a letter to Moore, Assistant State's Attorney Cynthia Schaupp writes, "This office does not believe there was any violation of the Open Meetings Act and thus will take no further action." Trustee Rob LaPorta was not surprised at the decision, saying, "I had no fear ... because I knew there's nothing to be found."

The state's attorney's letter also contradicts Moore's claim last month that she did not file the complaint.

The letter, addressed to Moore, reads, "I am writing with regard to your request for an investigation."
