Support candidates with most promise

Every time an election draws near, we all have difficult decisions to make about the future of our community. Having talked to many of the candidates running for various offices, I am proud to support Cheryle Jackson for U.S. Senate, Scott Lee Cohen for Lt. Governor, Robin Kelly for Treasurer and Mike Funkey for Judge.

At this time of turmoil in the state of Illinois, we need strong leadership in Washington and Springfield. On the bench, we need experience.

Throughout Cheryle Jackson's career as a communicator, advocate and executive, Cheryle has been an agent of change, making institutions, businesses and government more effective and accountable to the needs of everyday people.

Scott Lee Cohen has always understood that a job is more than a pay check but a source of dignity and respect for men and women doing their best to care for their families. That is why Scott has provided jobs to working families by starting several small businesses.

Robin Kelly is a leader people can count on to make a positive difference in their lives.

We need experienced and fair judges to represent us, and that is why I am supporting Mike Funkey.

He has served the people of Aurora as an attorney and he will continue to provide service to us all as a judge. I understand that some of you might be supporting another candidate, which is why democracy works so well. Regardless of who you are supporting, please exercise your right to vote on Feb. 2.
